NEW! In addition to therapeutic massage, I’m now excited to offer
Hawaiian Bodywork Massage
Using deep, long strokes to heal at a cellular level, Hawaiian Bodywork is a massage that relaxes and stimulates at the same time.
“Warm oil, suitable music and the typical long strokes gives a feeling
of well-being and wholeness on every level.
It is relaxation, regeneration and recovery for the whole body.
It stimulates softly the self healing process
And brings us back to ourselves in an easy and loving way”
What clients say:
“As a professional sportsman racing motorcycles on the world stage for more than a decade, body maintenance is critical. As a racer, training and performance make up my days… bumps and bruises are regular. In order to recover quickly I have a physio; and massage is also a necessity. I have found great benefit in Samantha’s treatments.”
- Andrew Pitt, two times world supersport champion and veteran world superbike and MotoGP rider
“Samantha, that was divine. I wish I had booked double the time! Do you have a space next Wednesday?”
-Richard
“Thank you so very much for the lovely hour spent with you! You’re a very gifted and talented lady, I will most certainly be in touch soon. I will be recommending you to all of my friends! lots of love,” - Becky. (pregnancy massage client)
Massage works by soothing soft tissue and encouraging relaxation. Modern studies show that massage can successfully treat a range of disorders, including back pain, anxiety and high blood pressure. Different types of massage include aromatherapy massage, massage for babies, reflexology, shiatsu massage, remedial massage and relaxation massage.
I offer various types of massage, either in our private treatment room, or in the comfort of your own space (mobile fee applies):
- Aromatherapy - essential oils made from selected flowers and plants are added to the massage oil for their particular therapeutic properties; this becomes your personal blend and can be used by you at home for ongoing comfort
- Therapeutic - also known as ‘Western’ or ‘Swedish’ massage. One of the most popular forms of massage, this technique is designed to promote relaxation and improve blood circulation. I also incorporate deep tissue massage and chinese acupressure to further relieve stress and tension.
Massage is a complement to Health Coaching Sessions and adds the much needed primary food to those struggling with food or weight issues- the touch of Vitamin L (love!)
Massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions. Many cultures – including the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese and Indians – were convinced of the therapeutic properties of massage and used it to treat a variety of ailments. The skin is the largest organ of the human body and is packed with nerve endings. Massage works by soothing soft tissue and encouraging relaxation. Massage is especially effective in treating ‘vicious cycle’ complaints. For instance, a tension headache is often self-sustaining because the pain makes the sufferer clench the affected muscles even harder. This, in turn, creates more pain. A thorough neck and shoulder massage can release muscle tension and break the pain cycle.
A range of disorders
Modern studies have shown that massage can be used to successfully treat a variety of disorders, including:
- Anxiety
- Arthritis
- Back pain
- Chronic pain
- Constipation
- Depression
- Headache
- High blood pressure
- Insomnia.
Deep relaxation
One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones – such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine – are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.
Some of the physical benefits of massage include:
- Reduced muscle tension
- Improved circulation
- Stimulation of the lymphatic system
- Reduction of stress hormones
- Increased joint mobility and flexibility
- Improved skin tone
- Speedier healing of soft tissue injuries
- Heightened mental alertness
- Reduced anxiety and depression
